Welcome to the Bramhope Methodist Church website. We hope that you will find it informative. Methodism in Bramhope has a long history, the first documentary evidence of Methodist preaching in the village dating back to 1777. Services took place in cottages and barns for many years until the first chapel was built in 1837. This building eventually became too small so the present church was built to replace it in 1896. The church has a central site at the heart of the village and is the location of many thriving groups and activities. We are a group of Christians of all ages and backgrounds who meet regularly for worship and fellowship and try to live out our faith in our daily lives. We are always keen to welcome new friends into the life of the church family. As a church we run a varied programme of services and activities for people of all ages. Some of our activities are aimed at particular age groups, most obviously the youth activities such as the Kids' Club, the Children's Art Club, Sunday Club and the Toddler Group. Other groups like the Film Club and the Coffee Shop provide opportunities for all ages to meet together. If you would like further information that is not available on this site please get in touch with us. |

The calling of the Methodist Church is to respond to the gospel of God’s love in Christ and to live out its discipleship in worship and mission. Bramhope Methodist Church seeks to do this through: 1. WORSHIP Through regular commitment to worship we seek to maintain the worship of the church in a way that is welcoming to all and proclaims God’s love to everyone as shown through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. To:- · Give praise to God in Christ through the Spirit · Open ourselves to God’s transforming love · Receive and reflect on the gospel of God’s ways in the world · Offer ourselves to share in God’s action in the world 2. LEARNING AND CARING Pastoral care is the responsibility of the whole church, caring for individuals and communities. We seek to develop caring relationships and share each others needs and burdens. We aim to provide opportunities for individuals to develop their spiritual gifts and service. To grow spiritually through prayer meetings, Bible study and fellowship. 3. SERVICE We seek to maintain outreach and service to our community. To support and encourage other work in the wider community. To raise awareness of the needs of society at home and abroad. To work for the provision of young people in the community alongside St Giles Church. 4. VISION To undertake outreach in the local community by identifying and responding to opportunities and showing commitment to our village and its needs. To continue to develop relationships with all other churches in our area.. To develop confidence in evangelism and in the capacity to speak of God and faith in ways that make sense to all involved. 5. BUILDINGS To offer our buildings as a resource for the local community thereby witnessing to God’s presence and activity in daily life. 6. GENERAL To support the work of the Church financially through our contributions, each to determine their own level of support. We pledge ourselves at each annual church meeting to review this statement, our commitment to it and our programme of action based upon it. In all things we are called to be “moving forward together”. |
